Jesus “Sammy” Samaniego Sanchez

Jesus “Sammy” Samaniego Sanchez

Jesus “Sammy” Samaniego Sanchez, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, graduated from San Diego State University in May 2023 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at SDSU, Sammy completed two internships with Northrop Grumman, which led directly to his full-time role at their Rancho Bernardo location. Beyond academics, he participated in multiple engineering projects, was an active member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and now serves as Chair of the Troops to Engineers Student Advisory Board, helping guide the program’s future.

I first discovered Troops to Engineers while still on active duty, and it became one of the main reasons I chose SDSU. From my very first semester, the program has transformed my career readiness—improving my resume, sharpening my interview skills, and most importantly, expanding my professional network. Through T2E’s facility tours, company sessions, and workshops, I connected with industry leaders across Southern California and landed my first internship at Northrop Grumman, which turned into a full-time career. My advice to fellow engineering student veterans is simple: get involved. The more you participate in T2E, the more doors will open for you.
